Regla
La Habana - Artemisa
Across the Habana Vieja Harbor, this is a very Afro-Cuban religious area. If you would like to visit a ‘babalawo’ (Santaria priest), this is the place to go, although you need to speak Spanish. A great place to meet locals is the market, where you can buy Cuban food for pesos instead of dollars. Also in this town are living the secret men society; ‘Abakua’. Cubans call those men ‘Nanigos’.
Another place of interest is ‘La Santisima Virgin de Regla’, which is the spirit of the ocean, protecting the sailors. You can see her in the ‘Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Regla’.
