Public Holidays

Cuba has very few public holidays. Nevertheless, on the below mentioned days expect to find most shops closed and the beaches a little busier than usual.

May 20	Independence Day; Anniversary of the transfer of power from Spain in 1902
July 25 - 27	Celebration of the National Rebellion
October 10	Anniversary of the Beginning of the Wars of Independence
December 25 *	Christmas

* Note that Christmas Day has been observed as a public holiday since the Pope’s visit in 1997.
