Diving If you're into scuba diving, Cuba is the place for you. It has excellent diving sites throughout the archipelago for beginners and experienced divers. The water temperature is between 26 to 29°C and has an intense coral growth, hundreds of small bays and islands and numerous world-class diving sites. Under water there is a lot of things to see, such as sunken Spanish galleons and modern submarines, but also a very diverse sea life with tortoises, sharks, rays, barracudas, perch, jack fish, parrot fish, snails, starfish, trigger fish and many other species. The visibility is usually between 15 to 35 meters, so you can see everything very clearly.
More and more diving centers are providing their services as Cuba is getting more and more popular. Almost all of them offer diving programs, which include beginners' courses and the possibility to obtain a certificate. The equipment is usually of a high standard, but you can also bring your own equipment.
It is strongly suggested, that your last dive should be at least one day before your flight back home, so that the nitrogen in your body can reduce to the normal level. Before diving a medical certificate must be obtained. A medical examination can be organized if needed.
