Beaches - Sancti Spiritus

Playa Ancón

Ancón is derived from a black rock on Punta María Aguilar that once served as a landmark for sailors. It looked like a horses' leg and because of that it received its nickname Ancón (hind leg). Ancón is with its 4 kilometers the largest beach on the south coast.

The soft sand and still, warm waters sheltered by palm trees make the beach a popular trip from Trinidad. Situated at the end of the peninsula, 12 kilometers south of Trinidad, Playa Ancón also offers watersports and some good offshore snorkeling and diving sites. At Ancón Hotel beginners diving courses are given.

The sea life is amazing here with various species of coral, sponges and tropical fish.

Playa Maria Aguilar

María Aguilar beach lies south of Trinidad. It has warm and shallow waters and a remarkable sea life with amazing coral, sea fans, sponges and beautiful tropical fish.
