Beaches - Granma Marea del Portillo
Marea del Portillo is located 108 kilometers south of Manzanillo Airport in Granma. It's known for its black sand and its location withing a bay surrounded by the Sierra Maestra mountain range and bordered by coconut and palm trees. Activities here are horse riding, watching waterfalls, like on Cilantro and Las Yaguas rivers), motorboat rides, visits to neighboring keys and water sports.
Also diving is very popular here, as a coral reef, a great variety of sea life, such as barracuda, morays and trumpet fish and sunken ships are very close to the sea shore. The Cuba Albacora Scuba Diving Center has 17 diving spots offering immersions down to this coral reef (from 10 to 35 m deep).
Down here you can also go and see the Cristóbal Colón ship: one of the battleships belonging to Spanish Admiral Cervera's fleet, who lost a sea battle against the American fleet at Santiago de Cuba bay.
